|shows and what-nots.
july 2nd - tom waits
with a brief trip down to fort myers afterwards with mrs. creamcheese
september 22nd - my bloody valentine
|Tuesday, March 25th, 2008|
i just finished twin peaks last night and let me strongly recommend that program to everyone.
the characters are very likable, it has some of the funniest moments ever, it's one of the most stylized shows, it essentially created it's own genre, there is so much symbolism up for interpretation, not to mention i haven't been scared or frightened with anything in at least 10 years and some scenes in this show TERRIFIED me and have replaced my ideas of what is scary and i'm sure they will haunt me forever.
it is without a doubt the best tv show to have ever aired in the history of television.
and if you have already, lets talk about it.

|90's music (it matters where you are)
i wish i was 10 years older and i really could have appreciated how amazing early 90's pop music was. anyone who says fucking grunge music was the best part of the 90's is horribly, horribly wrong. though grunge had some good elements, it's a small fraction of how progressive the shoegaze/dream pop/brit pop movement was. bands like slowdive, my bloody valentine, ride, lush, galaxie 500 (though only one album was written in the 90's), drop nineteens, and even left over cocteau twins were completely groundbreaking and unestablished in hardly any form before hand. just from what i can see in videos, it seemed like such a dream. grown-ups acting like kids. living life. not caring about tomorrow. to truly live this dream would be the best feeling. it's long gone now. we are but a shell of what is left of it.

xanadu comes to mind.
also, re-watch your 'adventures of pete and pete' i hold my love for that show partially responsible for my love of shoegaze.

mardi gras was pretty interesting. the parades started like two weeks ago. so, everyones been pretty festive since then. things started really picking up on thursday. i must say, i was pretty disappointed at first. i mean, don't get me wrong, it was alot of people everywhere drinking and it didn't stop. however, the crowds were mostly really drunk college kids and i never want to see boobies again. ryan, eric, grayson, and i all work doing bike delivery for a deli right off of bourbon and we were working quite a bit. so, i was pretty burnt out on that shit.
things got really crazy monday night through tuesday night. though more people, it was more interesting people wearing really awesome costumes.
monday night. went to a quintron show with laura and drank about on the streets. i don't remember much of that night and wish that i had brought a camera out atleast to document the occasion. Current Mood: poop all over my face

fyi - in my buddy icon i am 14 years old, at longhairs house after school, in his sisters room, using his dads webcam, trying to capture a shot ugly enough for the likes of uglypeople.com.
hence the user name. also, when i created this lj it was right when the album 'god loves ugly' came out. however, the picture was the inspiration for the name.
we submitted it but i don't know if it ever made it.
i hope so.
just thought you guys might like to know that. Current Mood: hit in the face with paper

|life in new orleans part one.
this entry is more so for future personal referance. so, i'll just kind of be jotting these thoughts down. sorry if they don't make as much sense as they should. i just need to remember this.
so, tonight eric and i were sitting at home when our roomate dan invited us to go on a themed bike ride. which, if any of you guys heard the story about how badass the warewolf ride was - you would know that, of course, we are 100% down for this.
only, we have no idea what the theme is. so, we get to the meeting place that is just on the side of a random building with some graffiti on it.
after about 100 people show up they start the ceremony. turns out this bike rides theme was "wester" which is supposed to be the opposite of easter. haha. and i guess it's been exactly six months since last easter. they explain that each one of these stops we collect a card that has a different sin on it and the kick off was the man announcing all of this shooting a fake shotgun into the air and we all are supposed to "die" then we can start.
so, after this he says the first stop will be across the street to the black bunny. we look over and ontop of this giant rock mound is the sillhouette of a giant bunny. we ride over and collect our cards.
next stop was in this giant parking lot where all 100 or so of us end up riding around in a circle for like 10 minutes. it was crazy. also, there was a guy on a tall bike with some foam sabertooth tiger skeleton on it and a few others with jousting poles riding around.
then we go to under this giant bridge that goes over the mississippi river and have a wester egg hunt. all we managed to find was some poison ivy. haha.
after that we go to this giant cement slab where i guess some projects used to be before katrina. this is where stuff gets crazy. there was a table where they had absinthe and were giving it out to everyone in this very strange almost fortune teller style way of giving it out. at some point a guy also comes out of the woods nearby in his underwear screaming "DONT HAVE SEX IN THOSE WOODS! IT'S COVERED IN FIRE ANTS!" haha. also, i get in litteraly atleast a five mintue thumb wrestling match with this guy where we ended up running around and twisting and shit. no one won because it was time to leave.
next we stop at what i'm assuming is an abandoned bar. it was was two stories and pitch black on the inside. we all walked up to the second floor where there was a full bar with a man giving us the cards for that stop along with free beer. at this place erics foot literally falls through the floor on the second story.
then we go to another abandoned building. this time in a residential area. for some reason electricity was on in the house. either from a generator or stolen. this one is set up like a haunted house. which let me tell you - was fucking scary. the first room just had a strobe light and some mirrors, no big deal. the second room just had some of the oldest shittiest mattresses you could find. trashed and broken walls, floor, and ceiling in pitch black except for a tv which was playing some like 70's porn or something. then it goes outside where some people were hiding to scare you. in the next room there is just a woman who looks pregnant fucking screaming! and blood is everywhere on the walls and on her dress and shit. in the last room there was a reverend talking about how the end is near and how we all need to drink his magical drink. oh yeah, as i take my drink he screams "IF WE CAN'T LIVE IN PEACE WE WILL DIE IN PEACE!" haha. i'm not sure what exactly was in it but eric started throwing up like an hour after taking it.
which brings me to the next stop. which was some bar i think. anyways, as indicated in the paragraph above - at this point eric is feeling really shitty. so, we head home. not sure where the rest of the night would have took us. but all and all it was a definitely an interesting experience.

last night listening to slowdive so loud in the car with nick was one of those moments where life becomes this strange, overwhelming, not real experience. i wish i could figure out how to replicate that feeling over and over again. i will remember that moment for as long as i live.
i know it was just a combination of substances and circumstances but still...
reality of leaving finally hit me right there in the car last night.
nick moved out today, i put in my letter of resignation at work also, buying plane tickets tomorrow, and moving out of this place downtown sunday.
i've never been so happy nor so sad.
create as many chapters as possible.
still, i'm pretty pumped.

just a few things that id like to have written down about my last week and a half:
old-gay-homeless-blackman asking me if i was gay and had a boyfriend at a gas station in sarasota. all of which while i was really drunk with my shirt tucked into my pants and my pants pulled up well past my bellybutton and wearing large fake glasses, insane amounts of necklaces, etc.
longhair and myselfs trip on 41 between sarasota and tampa on the way to orlando. i cant remember any of the insane signs except "watch out for the cars" handpainted and put up on an intersection of a dirt road and railroad tracks.
orlando party with jesse, nick, longhair, and myself with longhairs 5ft. blowup luchador doll 'jorge".
creepy guy david, getting really mad a jorge and fighting him in complete seriousness/ david saying that he was going to bury jorge/ convincing david to try to climb ontop of the refrigerator to scare people.
nick and i stealing beers and a bottle of wine. getting drunk. leaving immediately after for atlanta at three in the morning.
sleeping in a tent in our underwear in a field at a rest area with jesse, nick, longhair, and myself.
getting kicked out of the field by sheriffs. nick losing his phone. being in our underwear on the side of the interstate at sunrise.
sleeping at danny, max, and bradfords house in gainesville with an insanely drunk kevin reynolds and marcus.
barbie beach on the side of state road 16.
longhair almost getting arrested in georgia for "actin' the fool" by screaming at random drivers within earshot of a cop.
skating downtown atlanta.
kate and i getting THREE flat tires in two trips on the interstate.
thats all i can remmeber.

is anybody looking for a roomate?
i have a place to take over half of rent or i'd also be willing to move into somewhere else.
